When did you join Barrington James?
Holly: I joined in September 2015 as a Recruitment Consultant.
What was the turning point in your career when you realized how much you could progress at Barrington James?
Holly: I was awarded shares in the company in 2017. This was a big turning point for me as it gave me more confidence in my position within the company, and I became more invested in the growth of the business.
What does being an Associate Director mean to you?
Holly: Associate Director means that I can have the impact that I want to have on the wider business. Having the influence and opportunity to make positive change as we grow has always been important to me, so I am excited to see how far I can take my ideas.
What has been your biggest highlight during your time at Barrington James?
Holly: Professionally, my highlight has been getting onto the board. It’s a goal I set myself very early on, and I am really happy to have achieved it. Personally, buying my house at the age I did was a huge milestone for me. I thought I would have been years away from being able to own a property on my own.
Who have been your biggest supporters?
Holly: I have a great support system within the company. I would particularly like to thank Nick Livings, Amy Jenkins, Matt Tucker, Chris King, Georgia Wright, and Dom Withers for always being on my side.
What is your advice for overcoming failure?
Holly: I have failed more times than I can count at Barrington James, but I think I have learned some huge lessons from all of them, which I still use every day. One of my biggest setbacks was when I was pushing to become a Senior Consultant and didn’t manage to close a deal in the last month when I needed to hit my revenue target. It really made me question whether I could do the job and whether it was the right place for me to be. Luckily, I had really good people around me that helped me re-focus my energy and push forward. My biggest advice is to look for the lesson in everything that goes wrong and trust that perseverance and resilience will pay off.
How will your career progress from here?
Holly: I hope to continue to progress within the board and take on different types of responsibility to broaden my skillset as a leader.
