What inspired you to relocate from the UK to Singapore?

After graduating, I spent time traveling through Southeast Asia before heading to Australia for a year on a working holiday visa. Living there made me realize that I wasn’t ready to return to the UK—I loved the expat lifestyle, the sunshine, and the new experiences. I had cousins who grew up in Singapore, and they encouraged me to check it out on a similar visa. So, I made the move from Australia to Singapore, and soon after arriving, I joined Barrington James!

How would you describe the Singapore office and its culture?

The Singapore office was incredible—modern, bright, and located right in the heart of the city. With over 50% glass walls, the views were breathtaking, especially overlooking Marina Bay Sands from a high floor—it never got old! The office had a truly international feel, with colleagues from all over the world. Because of its prime location, we often went out together after work, whether for team drinks, celebratory dinners, or incentive nights out—it was an amazing place to work and socialize.

What did Singapore offer that the UK didn’t?

First and foremost, the weather—it never dropped below 25°C! The tax rates were also incredibly low, which made a big difference financially. Plus, Singapore’s location made it easy and affordable to travel to incredible destinations like Thailand and Bali for weekend getaways. And of course, the food scene was unbeatable, with everything easily accessible since the island is so compact—nothing was ever more than a 30-minute drive away!

What advice would you give to anyone considering a move to Singapore?

Go for it! It’s an amazing experience and a fantastic place to live. Now that travel has fully opened up again post-COVID, it’s the perfect time to take advantage of the expat lifestyle, enjoy the low taxes, and explore Asia in your free time. I absolutely loved my time in Singapore, and I’d never say never to returning in the future!
